In Which Groovy Opines on Various and Sundry Topics That May or May Not Be of Interest to Her Readers

I have declared this morning a "down" morning. No chores. No cleaning. No cooking (the girls just poured their own cold cereal and milk. Huzzah!!). No school. No bills. No phone calls (I hate phone calls). No fundraising. No brushing my unruly locks. I'm just going to sit like a slug in front of my computer and relax until lunch time.

So there!

Because of this, I have had time to watch some awesome physics videos. I always knew science was fascinating (even if I don't always comprehend the math part)!

I've also had time to read and enjoy my dear young friend Jessie's bloggy explanation of God's call on her life. Check it out...It will bless you and challenge you!

And now, for your edification, I present GROOVY'S OPINIONS on...

Wind: Tail winds are fabulous, Head winds are a pernicious evil and should be outlawed in Maine.

Gardening: Dandelions ARE weeds. I don't care what anyone else says!

My Little Girlies: I am blessed with 2 of the most incredibly wonderful, resiliant, positive, sweet, obedient, cheerful, trustworthy, thoughtful, adorable daughters in the whole entire world!

Coffee: I surely do love me some Tim Horton's. We like it so well that that's what we make and drink at home. However, that doesn't stop us from dropping by the shop for the occasional muffin or doughnut. Groovy's favorite is the whole grain carrot muffin. It is fabulous!

Computers: I heart my Macintosh! I will NEVER own anything else!

Make-up: Ladies, less is more, if ya know what I mean!

Biking Gear: The padded shorts are absolutely essential, as are a helmet, a water bottle, and, for me, padded gloves. A breathable jacket that doesn't fill with air and flap around is nice too. Everything else is fluff.

Chain Saws: Chain saws are quite unnerving when being yielded by strangers on the perimeter of your property.

Forwards: Most email forwards aren't worth the time it takes to read them. Occasionally, however, my friends send me one that really touches me or makes me think. This one did both:

“I AM”

I was regretting the past and fearing the future.
Suddenly my Lord was speaking: “My name is I AM”

He paused. I waited.
He continued, “When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard.
I am not there. My name is not I WAS."

"When you live in the future, with it’s problems and fears,it is hard.
I am not there. My name is not I WILL BE."

"When you live in this moment, it is not hard.
I am here. My name is I AM."

The Weather: Groovy is wondering why we spend so much time talking and writing about the weather. When it's cold we complain and wish it was hot. When it's hot we complain and wish it was cooler. When it rains we whine and wish the weather was nicer. Groovy has, of late, been making a concerted effort to thank God for each day no matter WHAT the weather is outside. (Although she sometimes fails in this endeavor when riding into a headwind!)

My Blogging Friends: I love the diversity and the commitment of my blogging buddies. Some are ardent Christians, a couple are passionate pagans and a few are just cluelessly doing "their own thing". Some are young enough to be my kids and others are old enough to be my parents. Some are tremendously gifted in their use of language, others...not so much. My blogging friends literally live all over the world. This diversity has opened up avenues of understanding and insight that I have never experienced before in the narrow confines of my white Maine Christian bubble. Thank you all for being there and for being my internetty friends!

And lastly, A Morning Off: Pure Bliss!

That was a great post - simple and to the point. Chain saws make me nervous, too. Even when someone experienced is using it.

I would think that "yielded" chainsaws would be far less unnerving than "wielded" chainsaws...but then that's just me...

Keep on pedaling!

Wonderful thoughts very well said!

I have had that poem or whatever you call it up on my office wall for at least 14 or my 15 years there. I absolutely love it!

Thanks for being one of my bloggy friends. I wonder where I fit in your description . . . HMMM.

I was having the exact same weather conversation with Middle Minion just the other day. We're always wanting it to be a little more "just right."

Mornings off are, indeed, pure bliss. I hope you got to enjoy yours.

Oh, and I had to re-read "internetty" because my brain kept insisting it was "interNUTTY" and I was thinking, "Yeah, I'll go along with that..."

That makeup thing scared me. Asphalt eyes. New to me. I'll go out to the street and dig some up now.

THanks for the shout out. My blogging buddies are dear to me too. I think I am in the "clueless" category.

Excellent points, every one. That make-up terrified me, maybe more than the chainsaws. Thanks for being one of my internetty buddies, even if I suspect I fall into the "clueless" category.
