T-3 Days and Counting!
*****************************************
As you may have perceived, I've been in a bit of a funk the past few days - anxious, tense, excited, uncertain, and very ambivalent about the Trek. I SO want the whole weekend to go well, but I keep running into walls and having physical problems that make me wonder if I can do it.
And then add in taking care of GrammaJ and these %%*&^)(*&_)&###^ machines going from 6am (Yes, they are out there now, chugging and thumping away) to 6pm.
I've been a mess.
Yesterday morning I had a good cry (a long one) and spent some time in prayer and God led me to Psalm chapters 3 & 4. He reminded me that, although my trials and concerns are very small in the scope of life (I'm certainly not being tortured for my faith, we can afford to buy heating oil, and none of us have been struck with horrific diseases, right?), He does, indeed care and does indeed have everything in control. He reminded me that I need to step off this merry-go-round of self absorbance and fear and TRUST Him.
Just trust Him. I am trying to do that. Get the focus off Groovy and her abilities (or potential lack thereof) and get the focus on Christ. "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13) He WILL see me through! Whether I ride the whole way on my bike or in the back of a SAG vehicle, it'll be OK. No one will be mad at me and no one will be disappointed in my "performance".
Then, this morning I woke up and there was a card on the bar. Mulletman leaves for work at 5:40 am. I am usually still asleep when he goes. This time he was a sneaky guy! He actually spent money and BOUGHT a card for me to cheer me up. This is a big deal because he is NOT a card buyer. at all. period. Except for now because I've been walking in this not so groovy shade of blue and he doesn't know how to make me all better.
I tried to take a pic of the card, but the flash kept washing it out. On the cover it said, Just a word of cheer for you and inside says ...to let you know I'm here for you. and then, of course he wrote his own little note to me:
Hey Sweatie, (This is a family joke. He's never been able to spell "sweetie" correctly and it cracks me up every time - especially now, in light of all the bike riding and the, you know, SWEAT and all.) I hate seeing you sad and in a funk (that's my job). (As a rule, Mulletman is much more emotionally high maintenance than I am!) I'm praying for you. If there's something I can do to help...Let me know.
I love you,
Mulletman (Except, of course, he didn't sign it as "Mulletman". He used his real name.)
AND he put something in the card - a bar of Lindt dark chocolate. Whoo-hoo!
That's my sweatie!
And then there's my wonderful Funsocksgirl who is going through some pretty all consuming trials of her own, but who took the time to encourage me and make me smile yesterday.
Dang. I keep crying!
And poor GrammaJ, who can at times be quite difficult, has been so awesome and supportive, even though going on the Trek means we'll be leaving her all alone for a few days without full use of her hands.
********************
Anyhoo... I just wanted to let everyone know that I serve a loving and personal God and that I have the best, BEST family EVER.
Now you know!

Let me please add that I also have some pretty terrific friends; Notconformed just sent me a whole box of yummy looking virtual chocolates!!!

In Which Groovy Opines on Various and Sundry Topics That May or May Not Be of Interest to Her Readers
I have declared this morning a "down" morning. No chores. No cleaning. No cooking (the girls just poured their own cold cereal and milk. Huzzah!!). No school. No bills. No phone calls (I hate phone calls). No fundraising. No brushing my unruly locks. I'm just going to sit like a slug in front of my computer and relax until lunch time.
So there!
Because of this, I have had time to watch some awesome physics videos. I always knew science was fascinating (even if I don't always comprehend the math part)!
I've also had time to read and enjoy my dear young friend Jessie's bloggy explanation of God's call on her life. Check it out...It will bless you and challenge you!
And now, for your edification, I present GROOVY'S OPINIONS on...
Wind: Tail winds are fabulous, Head winds are a pernicious evil and should be outlawed in Maine.

Gardening: Dandelions ARE weeds. I don't care what anyone else says!

My Little Girlies: I am blessed with 2 of the most incredibly wonderful, resiliant, positive, sweet, obedient, cheerful, trustworthy, thoughtful, adorable daughters in the whole entire world!

Coffee: I surely do love me some Tim Horton's. We like it so well that that's what we make and drink at home. However, that doesn't stop us from dropping by the shop for the occasional muffin or doughnut. Groovy's favorite is the whole grain carrot muffin. It is fabulous!

Computers: I heart my Macintosh! I will NEVER own anything else!

Make-up: Ladies, less is more, if ya know what I mean!

Biking Gear: The padded shorts are absolutely essential, as are a helmet, a water bottle, and, for me, padded gloves. A breathable jacket that doesn't fill with air and flap around is nice too. Everything else is fluff.

Chain Saws: Chain saws are quite unnerving when being yielded by strangers on the perimeter of your property.

Forwards: Most email forwards aren't worth the time it takes to read them. Occasionally, however, my friends send me one that really touches me or makes me think. This one did both:
“I AM”
I was regretting the past and fearing the future.
Suddenly my Lord was speaking: “My name is I AM”
He paused. I waited.
He continued, “When you live in the past with its mistakes and regrets, it is hard.
I am not there. My name is not I WAS."
"When you live in the future, with it’s problems and fears,it is hard.
I am not there. My name is not I WILL BE."
"When you live in this moment, it is not hard.
I am here. My name is I AM."
The Weather: Groovy is wondering why we spend so much time talking and writing about the weather. When it's cold we complain and wish it was hot. When it's hot we complain and wish it was cooler. When it rains we whine and wish the weather was nicer. Groovy has, of late, been making a concerted effort to thank God for each day no matter WHAT the weather is outside. (Although she sometimes fails in this endeavor when riding into a headwind!)

My Blogging Friends: I love the diversity and the commitment of my blogging buddies. Some are ardent Christians, a couple are passionate pagans and a few are just cluelessly doing "their own thing". Some are young enough to be my kids and others are old enough to be my parents. Some are tremendously gifted in their use of language, others...not so much. My blogging friends literally live all over the world. This diversity has opened up avenues of understanding and insight that I have never experienced before in the narrow confines of my white Maine Christian bubble. Thank you all for being there and for being my internetty friends!

And lastly, A Morning Off: Pure Bliss!
