I'm Feeling Blue...

As most of my real life, non-virtual friends know, I collect blue phrogs. No, not green frogs, not blue frogs, but BLUE PHROGS.

How did I get started? Well, back when I was in, oh 5th grade or so, a friend of mine put on a Peter, Paul, and Mary album (yes, it was vinyl!) and here's the song that captured my heart and imagination:

*****************************
I'm in love with a big blue frog,
A big blue frog loves me.
It's not as bad as it appears
He wears glasses and he's six foot three.

Well I'm not worried about our kids,
I know they'll turn out neat.
They'll be great lookin' 'cause they'll have my face,
great swimmers 'cause they'll have his feet!

Well I'm in love with a big blue frog,
A big blue frog loves me.
He's not as bad as he appears,
He's got rhythm and a PhD.

Well I know we can make things work
He's got good fam'ly sense.
His mother was a frog from Philadelphia
His daddy an enchanted prince.

The neighbors are against it and it's clear to me
And it's prob'ly clear to you
They think value on their property will go right down
If the family next door is blue.

Well I'm in love with a big blue frog
A big blue frog loves me
I've got it tattooed on my chest
It says P.H.R.O.G. (It's frog to me!)
P.H.R.O.G.
****************************

I sang the song so often (and so dramatically - WITH sound effects) that my mother's boyfriend bought me a canvas bag with a blue phrog on it. The bag is gone now - I used it 'til it fell apart - but the collection was begun:

I have phrog earrings and phrog necklaces, as well. I also have some exceptionally ugly and tacky phrogs that Mulletman won't permit me to display. Those sad creatures feel very blue in their cardboard home in the basement. And to be perfectly honest with you there are almost certainly more little phroggies lurking about that I've forgotten...

Naturally, having such an extensive and specialized collection is a boon to my friends; they all know exactly what to give me for a holiday gift. This widespread knowledge is not without its humorous moments.

In fact, last Mother's Day, Funsocksgirl found this treasure for me in Rochester, NY:

And then, my wonderful and thoughtful friend Notcon4med found the perfect gift por moi in South Carolina.

What happened next? You guessed it. In a different far off town in South Carolina, my sweet Mommy found the ideal present for her phrog crazy daughter:

Mulletman thinks this is just TOO MUCH fun for any family's bathroom, but he's given up on this battle. I rule the decorating world and I say that 3 is cozy. Don't you agree?

Now if we only had 12 toothbrushes...

Perhaps the 3 bathroom phrogs were meant to be. After all, your love for blue frogs started with that wonderful trio Peter, Paul & Mary, and lo and behold you now have a trio of your own. What a cool collection. Now I want to start collecting blue frogs. Wonder how my 150 teddy bears would feel about it? Great story, Groovy!

You're so right! If you'll notice, the phrog on the right has her eyes closed...I'll call her Mary!

What a neat collection! This reminds me of a puzzle that I used to do with my kids that had all kinds of colorful frogs on them. Turns out half of the colorful frogs are poisonous though! That puzzle was one of my kids' favorites.

Omigosh, that is so much a fun collection!!! I've got a friend who collects frogs, but the green ones. Never knew anyone who collected blue ones!! That is so funny about the 3 toothbrush holders you received. You do realize now that every time I see a blue phrog I'll be thinking of you! lol Hugs xox

Thanks for stopping by. Saturday morning or most likely late Friday I will have one of those Mr. Linky's set up and you just post your blog link there.

I love your phrogs are they? Sweet! Thank you for wanting to join in! You can grab the button as well if you wish. I can email you one as well.

Thanks!

Wow, what a roller coaster ride! You were a gorgeous bride. Happy Anniversary! I remember your 25th.

Your sad post that you deleted - I have been thinking of writing one that I have to think about some more. Did you get my e-mail?

I made a little donation. I can't imagine riding with all of the challenges you've been facing recently. You're tough!

Blue Phrogs - never heard the song, never seen one. Bet I will now! Great collection!

Oh, my word - the world has gone crazy. If the powers that be knew that each of the twins has tumbled down my steps more than once - I would be in jail. Are the kids in foster care and she was going to see them?? What a tragic tragic sent of events! It's amazing that a one monther rolled off the bed, and I'm so glad he's okay.

I'll bet you were reaching for those good ole diaper pins!
