New Year - New Creation

Being the slave driver that I am, we had school today.

Being the fun, innovative mom that I am, we had fun doing it!

After a brief run through our Bible memory verses and phonics, some reading time and a much dreaded spelling test, we watched the Rose Parade on the grandfolks' TV. Then we practiced math by playing silly math games on the computer.

BUT, the icing on the homeschool cake today was making yarn dolls. Somewhere I managed to find an American Girls craft book with instructions for making yarn dolls. True to pioneer form, we made ours with materials we already had in the house. Besides, even if we had wanted to purchase anything, we couldn't because we're in the midst of an ice storm!

Not satisfied with naked dolls, the girlies helped me design some clothes that required no sewing. They were so pleased with the results that they insisted we take photos and post them on my blog. So here they are!

The one in the red dress is Girly-Girl's Kirsten and the other is Silly-Head's Anna.

Oh, very nice dolls! I had initially misread "slave driver" and saw it as "slow driver" and wondered what in blazes that had to do with school.

At least you had human-colored yarn to make the dolls. Here they would have been either varigated "confetti" or forest green. And naked.
