Usually my favorite day of the year is the day AFTER Christmas. You know, all the pressure is off - nothing to do but chill out and relax. However, this year we had a big family Mexican Fiesta on the day after Christmas. Twas very chaotic and fun, but also tiring! Therefore today, December 27 has been declared a day of rest. (Edit: In Fact, it was SO MUCH a day of rest, that I finished this post on the 28th!)
Since coming up with a facinating post takes too much brain power (and I'm running a little low right now) I shall entertain you with photos instead.
Christmas Day we opened gifts with the family, then rushed off to serve at the Community Christmas Dinner for several hours. The motto? "No one should have to spend Christmas alone!"
My job was to "socialize" and "entertain" the masses. I went from person to person visiting and chatting and listening. I danced in the aisles. I acted very silly and goofy to make people smile. I sang alone and I sang in a group. See, there I am in the elf hat. Hmmmm. I wonder why DoodleBug is giving me that look. Was I singing the wrong words?
Girly-Girl and Silly-Head helped by passing out candycanes and bookmarks to all the guests. I haave no idea who the man is that was guiding Silly-Head, but she thought he was very nice. That, and his name, Floyd, made her giggle.
Oh look, here's Girly-Girl the week before Christmas all ready to sing with the Kidz Choir. Isn't she pretty? I didn't get any pics of them actually performing because weird stage lighting + stupid camera = bad photos!
Here are the girlies (and some 4-H friends) singing and ringing the bells for the Salvation Army.
The girlies PATIENTLY waiting for the rest of the family to join us for the Christmas Story, prayer, and gift opening time:
GrammaJ's cookie and candy exstravaganza!
Mulletman playing with grandson Ji-Ji:
A blurry, but adorable photo of our little Cookie:
Some happy rough-housing with Girly-Girl, Fireball, and Uncle Pickle-Nose.
Hey Look! Grampy got a present!
Grammy and GrammaJ are making sure Silly-Head opens this one the right way...
OK...That's all folks. I need to go snarf down some of GrammaJ's cookies before I jump back into the diet. my last Flat Belly Diet post is called "I Tripped on the Yule Log and my Face Landed in the Cookie Platter". You'll all want to read that one - except for Anne 'cause she's already read it. :D

Great pictures...and looks like SO much fun!
Loved seeing the gatherings with the older family members...
Yep, the day after Christmas was my actual favorite day this year...it's true...something about all the pressure being off! And this year, it was also the day we went and got my mom and had a second Christmas!
Yay for Christmas and Mexican fiestas and cookie explosions and tickle fights!
Hope you are well rested and ready for New Years!
What wonderful things you did with the kids. Girly-girl looks so lovely and is really growing up!
Diets + Christmas = Disaster! Add in family reunion and anniversary get-away and it is catastrophic! I don't do New Year's resolutions, but this is one year I'll be for sure starting over on January 1!
I am touched by how much you do for others. You and your family really are making a difference. Good on you!!!
Oh I loved the photos! It was fun seeing your active family, serving others! The cookie extravaganza was gorgeous, very festive looking.
A Mexican Fiesta? Really?
We have an annual Christmas Eve Mexican Fiesta, but I'm married to a Mexican!
Sounds like you had a wonderful Christmas and you're so right, no one should spend the holidays alone! How wonderful that you and your family helped out at the Community Christmas Dinner...by the way, that elf hat looks really good on you! hehe I so enjoyed seeing all the pictures and how blessed you are to have been able to celebrate with so many of your loving family members:-)
Wishing you and yours all the very best that 2009 has to offer. xoxo
