Eclipsed

For a couple of years now Mulletman and I have been pondering a name for our music group. (I am using the word "group" here rather loosely seeing as how it's just the two of us!) We thought of Yellow Paint pretty much just because it's random and silly. We've considered just being plain ole Mulletman & Groovy, but that lacks salability. We've toyed with Ransomed and The Groovies (gag) and a Guy, a Girl, and a Guitar, but none of those seem quite right.

But now I've found it. Mulletman and I are Eclipsed.

Our pride eclipsed by His glory
Our names eclipsed by His presence
Our music eclipsed by His Spirit
Our fears eclipsed by His love.

Consequently, I've written a song called simply: Eclipsed. It is one of the songs that accompanies this year's NaNoWriMo project. Since the band in my story is composed of teens, I'm imagining the song as having a bit of funk to it. Besides, Mm and I do funk and blues quite well...

Eclipsed

I keep hearing the words, "I'll see them in Heaven."
Sweet Mother, Dear Father, My Gramp or My Gram
Folks seem to find comfort in planning to see
Their brother or sister or lost little lamb.

But I wonder if that's how it will be
I wonder if we'll even care
In the glorious presence of Jesus
About all those others that are there.

'Cause we'll be with Jesus
Our Glory and our Light
The Lamb upon His throne
Full of power and might

In Him we will find rest
In Him we'll be complete
In Him we'll be made whole
as we worship at His feet

And I hear folks saying, "Well, I don't know about that.
When I get to Heaven I'll ask God
When? Where? How? and why, Why, WHY?
I need to know the answers 'cause life seems so odd.

But I wonder if that's how it will be
I wonder if we'll even care
In the glorious presence of Jesus
About the feeble questions that are there.

'Cause we'll be with Jesus
Our Glory and our Light
The Lamb upon His throne
Full of power and might

In Him we will find rest
In Him we'll be complete
In Him we'll be made whole
as we worship at His feet

Bridge:

And when I see (I'm undone! I'm undone!)
His glory and grace (I'm undone! I'm undone!)
Then like Isaiah (I'm undone! I'm undone!)
I'll fall to my face (I'm undone! I'm undone!)
(Key change)
His glory eclipsing (I'm undone! I'm undone!)
the cares of this world (I'm undone! I'm undone!)
His face outshining (I'm undone! I'm undone!)
my homelove unfurled (I'm undone! I'm undone!)

And I'm undone!

'Cause I'll be with Jesus
My Glory and my Light
The Lamb upon His throne
Full of power and might

In Him I will find rest
In Him I'll be complete
In Him I'll be made whole
as I worship at His feet

as I worship at His feet
as I worship at His feet
I'm undone

*****************************
This is just the rough draft. I'm sure the words will morph and smooth a bit as we work out the melody and accompaniment. Neither Mulletman nor I are gifted in the art of crafting songs. It's going to take much wrangling of chords and melody lines and styles before we make this into something performable. But when we do, we shall record it and play it for you here.

How wonderful and exciting. Good job on the words. I could "almost" hear it in my head. Oh yes, Eclipsed for sure!!!

Oh I had no idea you and your husband did this...absolutely wonderful. I love the lyrics, Groovy...truly love them. I can't wait to hear it sung here!

This is wonderful! Exactly what I have been saying here mile and, miles away from you.
This already 'sounds' like a song we will enjoy when we actually hear it here.
I also think; we will have perfect knowledge. And that we do not have knowledge of won't matter
"'Cause we'll be with Jesus
Our Glory and our Light
The Lamb upon His throne
Full of power and might"

And most of all:
Our sin eclipsed by His grace!

"Grace, grace, God's grace
Grace that will pardon and cleanse within
Grace, grace, God's grace
GRACE THAT IS GREATER THAN ALL OUR SIN!

The song looks great so far. I can't wait to hear it.
For all of you who have never heard Groovy sing...
well, you've really missed something! : D

Thanks for letting me know about the font color difficulty. I bolded it and changed to a deep red - let me know if it helps or not, okay? Thanks!
