Get out Your Hankies (and Your Wallets)

This heartfelt performance deserves a standing ovation!!!!

This heartfelt plea deserves your contribution!!!!

Greetings to our Framily!

Once again, Mulletman and I are eating our weight in veggies and training hard so we can ride in this year's Trek Across Maine.

On Father's Day weekend in June we will be riding our bicycles with over 2,000 other cyclists to raise money for the American Lung Association of Maine (ALAME). We've joined the Kennebec Savings' "Loan Ranger" Team. That gives us 48 other friends to train with and ride with and bunk with. The bank also gives us a $50 donation, a cool biking jersey, and free dog biscuits at the drive-thru.

The Trek entails riding 180 MILES in 3 days' time over HILLS - lots and lots of HILLS, so clearly we are completely insane! Even nuttier? We're either going to ride a rather unwieldy tandem bike (aka "a bicycle built for two") together or we're both going to pedal like maniacs on MOUNTAIN BIKES. (If you've ridden a mountain bike and then ridden a road bike, you understand why this is so crazy.)

Oy vey!

Last year, the two of us successfully raised over $900, even though I (Groovy) had to bail out of the ride due to an injury. This year we are aiming high and hoping to raise $1,000 each!

Here's how you can help:

Please sponsor one or both of us with a HUGE, um, I mean a small pledge of your hard earned money. None of this money will go to Muletman and me; It will all go to the ALAME. They will use your donation to improve the air quality of Maine, help people stop smoking, and fight asthma, lung cancer, COPD, Cystic Fibrosis and other icky lung diseases. I, Groovy, have asthma. In fact, I had an asthma attack while riding this past week. I, for one, am ready for a cure!

How do you donate? Well, just click the donation links in my sidebar.

Once you are on the webpage, click "Pledge a Loan Ranger". You'll see a list of everyone on our team. Find Ken Grunder or Sherry Grunder and click, then get out your credit card and donate! The only tricky part is that you have to sponsor us separately; we cannot share donations. Sorry!

If you'd rather donate by check, then email me and I'll get you the information you need.

Any way that you give (unless you remain anonymous), you will get a receipt and be able to use your donation as a tax deduction.

How much should you donate? Well, $1,000 would be nice, but we'll be thrilled with $5, $10, $20, or even $100!!!

By the way, your donation is a lump sum. You will not be charged per mile, so do not be afraid.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our plea and for considering this cause.

We and our lungs are most appreciative!

God Bless you,
Mulletman and Groovy

PS. If Mulletman had written this it would have been MUCH shorter. Something like: "You don't want to donate any money to the ALAME, do you?" But then you wouldn't have rolled your eyes and shook your head so much, would you?

And this video WILL inspire you. I don't usually cry, but this SO blessed me that I did.

Omigosh, Groovy, that man's voice is so powerful and I have goose bumps while listening to it! I found it so interesting to learn who had actually written the words to that song, what a twist of faith that it was actually a captain of a slave ship!!!

As for that little girl singing Our Father, how precious is that. Talk about putting her whole heart and soul into it! hehe

You and MM sure have been busy training for the bike trek...I do wish you the very best of luck with it and hopefully you will reach your goal of raising $1000 each. I give each year to our Canadian Lung Association, I know how important it is for them to get the donations:-) xox

Both of those videos are amazing. Good luck on your trek, Groovy. I am sure you will do very well.

LOL, I saw that little girl the other day. She is adorable. I love the A-men and "Directed by Mommy."

I have seen the little girl before, too, and just love it! It goes right along with today's post at my place.

Thanks for the encouragement! I am definitely ready for a change of pace. Although I am sure the pace will not be any slower!

It is so amazing - just last night we had this story about Amazing Grace in our choir devotional time. Wonderful!
