**********************************************************************************************

Yesterday seemed an ordinary day. We ("We" being the girlies and I) had hoped to get together with friends, but in the true spirit of spontanaety, things didn't work out. It was almost enough to make one think that spontanaety is highly overrated!

Oh well, we did what all hormonal women do when when their plans fall through; We went shopping.

One of our stops was at the Farmer's Market where we bought this odd looking little veggie:

The Farmer Dude told me it was a "Yellow Cucumber of Happiness". How could I NOT buy one of those, eh?

This morning I looked it up on the internet and it seems that yellow cukes are among the favorite items to offer as sacrifices to buddha. Since buddha has neither brain, teeth, nor stomach, I figured he wouldn't mind if we ate it instead. He didn't miss much because it basically had no flavor at all, but we certainly did have fun talking about it and taking pictures of it.

We're weird that way.

We also went to Marden's and bought cheap stuff before we picked up our obligatory Walmartian items.

During all this time the girlies were super. A couple of the usual laments because they're too big (and heavy!) to ride in the shopping cart, but that was all. I bought them each a super nifty 99¢ coloring book each and they were thrilled.

We got home and Girlly-Girl, who is so artsy she could deforest a state in a week's time, immediately took over. She dragged their school desks into their bedroom and pulled a chair up next to them to hold all of the many and varied implements of coloring. Before she had finished this little bit of redecorating, Silly-Head came to me holding her blankie.

"Can I just lay down on my bed and rest?"

A six-year old...rest? I told her she could, but she'd have to get up soon because we'd be getting supper ready. She fell asleep in less than 5 minutes!

When I tried to wake her up for supper, she was...well...really weird and strange and odd and scary and eerie. First of all, it was plain old hard to wake her, she just kept puffing her cheeks and blowing. Really! So I uncovered her and sat her up and kept talking to her a little louder and little more frantically, "Silly-Head, look at Mommy! I want you to wake up. You need to wake up NOW!" until she finally seemed awake and looked at me. But then the real fun began.

She started shivering and mumbling incoherrently. And then she started laughing...and it wasn't funny or cute at all. It was creepy and weird - like she was literally out of her mind. Girly-Girl looked at me with huge eyes and said, "Mommy, she's making me feel funny!" She was making me feel funny too!

I figured from the shivering that she had a fever so I took her temperature, but it was just barely even 99ºF. No other symptoms at all except a loss of appetite. She didn't want any supper, so I gave her tylenol and we all snuggled together on the couch to watch a movie. Right in the middle of the movie she suddenly looked at me and said she was HOT - too Hot! We ditched her blanket and took her temp again. Now it was 104º+. It went up that high AFTER the tylenol? Eeeek!

I cooled her in the tub a bit and put her back to bed. Then I got up several times last night to check on her...and she was fine.

And she was fine this morning too. And all day today. I guess it was just a strange twist of viralness and I hope it never happens again!

Oh... ewww... that laughing thing gave me the heebie-jeebies and I wasn't even there. I'm so glad she's feeling better. How scary!

So glad she's feeling better. Those ailments that come from nowhere are terrifying. My son had one a couple of years ago where he was completely delirious and kept saying over and over again :"You're not my Mum. You're not my Mum." It was so eerie." Stay safe and well.

Gah! I hate scary sicknesses. I hope no one else comes down with it.

I'm off to hose down my family with disinfectant.

How scary! You should definitely call the doctor and let them know in case it happens again.

Eek is right. The resting, mumbling and creepy laughing would have freaked me out. I'm glad she's fine.

(Walmartian, hee hee!)

Wow. That's yucky stuff. Fiesty spiked a high temp yesterday and we feared another UTI. Turned out to be strep throat. No sore throat that she has complained of.

I hope your inner clock gets going soon!

Sorry you're having such fun with Blogger. I don't know where to even start, so Kristen has to do it for me.
