Funsocksgirl is Getting Really Old!

...so what does that make me?

Today is the birthday of my eldest child. She's 24 today - almost a quarter of a century!

She was born in Knob Noster, Missouri (Ok, at Whiteman AFB. We just like to harass her about being a native of Knob Noster!) when Mulletman and I were 19 years-old.

She is sweet, smart, hilariously funny, sympathetic, and laughs like a gopher - even in Germany!

She is a wild gesticulator and screamer and occasionally (cough, choke, sputter) overreacts ever so slightly when she is startled or while playing a video game.

She is extremely shy, quiet, demure, and self-contained, especially when trying on intimate garments in a dressing room. (That, my dear friends, is EXTREME sarcasm!)

She LOVES books and reads and reads and reads; she is definitely well-read! A giftcard to a bookstore is a present that is received with clapping hands and cheering lips!

She loves Cherry Coke, alfredo sauce, candy corn, and grilled cheese. (She does NOT like to eat her veggies!) Her motto is, "Free food is GOOD food!" Therefore she thinks that cruising through Sam's Club on Saturdays and chowing on the free samples with her hubby is a very fun date.

She is tender and compassionate - very quick to cry with someone who is hurting.

She can type in the neighborhood of 40,000 wpm with 95% accuracy. In fact, she could type an entire book in the time it takes me to eke out a paragraph!

She is a photography fiend and takes a bazillion photos of everything and everyone. Thanks to the wonders of modern tehcnology, I actually get to see and enjoy most of these pics!

She is a fabulous writer, but in person uses words like "whatchamacallit" and "thingy" so much that the listener usually has to judge the meaning from the context!

She absolutely, positively ADORES her husband of 1 year!!!!!!

She loves her Savior and has a tender heart toward hurting children.

She gets all ga-ga over baby animals and loves waterfalls and scenic vistas. I'll bet she even enjoys hiking if no one is lecturing her on the intricacies of fungal reproduction! She was homeschooled, in case ya didn't know.

And, she is my bestest friend in the whole wide world.

Bekah-Boo, I love you!

Islandlife just alerted me to another contest being put on by babylovesdisco: Post a video or pic of my kiddos dancing and we might win ourselves some Stride Rite shoes. The deadline is/was before midnight tonight. How could I resist?

On Cinco do Mayo this year the girls dressed up as señoritas. We ate tons of Mexican food, colored flags of Mexico, learned some Spanish, etc. Then, when Mom wasn't looking, the girls put on "The Nutcracker". I peeked around the corner with the camera and saw this. Hang in there for 30 seconds or so - it gets really sweet in the middle!

Happy b-day!

I adore that last picture of her on the phone. Good thing I swallowed that mouthful of water before I saw it.

I finally got to see the video (technical difficult... oh, why lie, I was being an idiot and pressing the wrong button).

Anyway, it sure brought back some memories. My best friend and I used to dance to that very same record in my living room. We'd dress up in fancy clothes and dance the day away as princesses of distant lands.
